Makita Twin-18V 36V Strimmer | 2 x 5.0Ah Batteries
This is the loop handled version of the excellent DUR368 line trimmer. It is designed to be used with two 18 volt batteries simultaneously, which are connected in series to drive the motor with 36 volts of power. The motor is a brushless type which doesn't require maintenance and is much more efficient than traditional brushed motors.
The DUR368LPT2 package comes with two 5.0Ah batteries, but this machine will also work with your existing Makita 18V LXT battery packs for garden power tools as well as drills, impact drivers, etc. As the machine uses two batteries at once, it makes sense that the charger can recharge them both simultaneously, which is what you get with the excellent DC18RD - capable of recharging 5.0Ah batteries in only 45 minutes.
The DUR368 operates in three different speed modes, as well as being able to operate in reverse for a few seconds to clear stuck grass or weeds. The onboard electronics features include AFT, which detects jams/impacts and stops the motor, as well as ADT which monitors load on the motor and compensates with more power to keep a consistent rotary speed.
