  Makita Portable 304mm Thickness Planer | 2012NB

  
  This thicknesser from Makita has been designed to be compact and lightweight while still being powerful enough to cut up to 3mm per pass on stock under 150mm wide or 1.5mm on stock over 150mm wide. The unit is available in either 230 Volt or 110 Volt variants to suit the desired application and would suit a mobile carpenter thanks to the 27kg weight or a workshop thanks to the impressive capabilities. The cutting head is driven by a high-power/low-noise 1650 Watt motor which allows it to be used for long periods with minimal user noise-fatigue, especially when compared with other similar machines on the market. The stock feeding system has been specially designed to allow as little snipe on the timber as possible.

  A great thicknesser. Ideal for the smaller workshop and people confined to smaller spaces. A quite machine that does exactly what you want. Options to purchase accessories like a connector for the dust port from 75mm to 100mm would be ideal. I purchased an extra set of blades due to the introduction of helical style heads coming onto the market and maybe difficult to find in a few years time.

  Well built, smooth finish, I would say ready to paint, relatively quiet, bit of snipe is still present.

  I'm a great fan of makita products and was well pleased with this planer. Needed youtube to show me how to fit the knives but got all that done in about a half an hour. planes beautifully and i'd highly recommend it.
