  Designed and manufactured by power tool tycoons DeWalt the DW733 thickness planer sets the benchmark for lightweight and portable class planer thicknessers. With dimensions of 520mm wide and a height of 310mm and a total overall weight of 33kg, the planer is compact and manageable enough to transport to and from the site in the back of a van.
  
  A powerful 1800W motor coupled with a cutting head lock facility, which locks the cutting head into place so that excess movement isn't generated ensures smooth and consistent results. The thicknesser operates at a speedy feed rate of 8m/min. This is ideal for high output workshops that require an efficient and accurate machine. Two oversized infeed and outfeed tables give the workpiece better stability and provide consistently reliable planing results. 
  
  The DW733 thicknessers design differs from that of traditional market tools, where it incorporates a 4 post column design in contrast to most other branded thicknessers that use a 2 post column design. This gives the cutting head 2 more fixed points that increase its stability and delivers a smoother cutting action while the head traverses up and down the material.
  
  The most impressive feature of this thicknesser has to be its ability to plane to a depth of 2mm. Most fixed machines won't go below 6mm so this is definitely one to look for. The primary benefit of this is it allows you to carry out fine woodwork on smaller pieces, eliminating the need to get out the hand planer or belt sander.

  Having never used this type of thicknesser before I have been very pleased with the power and accuracy of the machine. I bought it  to use along with an old surface planer I revived and have found the combination is working great. In particular I am very impressed that and I am able to take the material to less than 6mm I can now thickness short lengths easily( sizes I would never attempt on a fixed thicknesser.)
  On the down side .it is a bit expensive and is very noisy but the machine has paid for itself and ear defenders are no hardship. Haven't changed the blades yet so can't comment on that aspect yet.
  Although I use the machine in my small workshop I can see that it would work great in a large workshop  as it is quick to set up and could handle the finer work accurately.

  This was my first time ordering from this site. I was very happy with the service and price. It is very hard to find a decent tool supplier on-line and in Ireland but I think I have found the one! I will be using again.
