  Makita 165mm Plunge Saw | Twin-18V | DSP601ZJU Bare Unit

  
  Nearly identical to the DSP600 plunge saw, this model takes an AWS chip (included) to remotely start compatible dust extractors. Plunge saws create large amounts of sawdust and are often used quickly, requiring a high quality dust extractor to keep up. Having to manually start the dust extractor every time for a cut that might only take 10 seconds is not only inefficient, but also annoying. The AWS chip communicates wirelessly using Bluetooth with your Makita AWS dust extractor. When you start the saw, it sends a signal to the extractor to also start. When you finish with the saw, the extractor continues to run for a few seconds in order to clear the hose, then shuts down too.
  
  The saw uses a 165mm diameter blade with a bore of 20mm, commonly available at any good tool accessory supplier. The plunge saw, although supplied without batteries, runs from two of the popular 18V LXT Li-ion battery packs simultaneously to deliver twice the power to the 36V motor drive unit. These are a way to get corded-like performance in a cordless powertool without using expensive high voltage batteries, like the 40Vmax XGT system.
