  Camvac Defender | Cyclone Separator

  
  Available as either a compact 55 litre unit or a much larger capacity 150 litre wall-mounted version, these cyclone separators or interceptors do exactly that. They intercept the airflow between the machine making dust/chippings and the dust collector itself. The inlet on the side comes in at an angle which causes a cyclone effect inside the barrel, similarly to how the Camvac extractors themselves work. Because you are adding a stage, this causes a lot more of the large and medium sized particles to fall out of the airflow before moving to the final stage. There are several advantages to this, the most important of which is your filters; It protects the filters from being clogged up by those medium sized particles which might be too small to quickly fall out of the airflow in a single stage setup, but big enough to quickly clog your expensive filters. Adding a defender as a middle stage allows extra time for the weight of the medium sized particles to fall out, and larger particles have no chance. Another big bonus is that you can move the noisy dust extractor further away from the machine you're working with. Works with most 100mm extraction.
