  Makita Delta Palm 3mm Orbital Sander | 40Vmax XGT | BO006CG Bare Unit

  
  This battery operated palm sander from Makita is part of their 40Vmax XGT range. Makita knew that making a higher voltage 40V battery pack would result in a heavier battery than their previous generation of 18V LXT batteries; their innovative solution is to actually make the palm sander lighter than ever by removing the battery from the weight of the tool entirely. You now connect any 40Vmax XGT battery pack, no matter how large or heavy, via a cable. This allows you to put the battery on your belt, or set it atop your dust extractor. You can use the included strap to run the cable along your arm or along the dust hose.
  
  The sander has an orbital motion with an orbit diameter of 3mm. The pad is a delta shape, and measures 100mm at the widest point and 150mm at the longest. The sander comes with a filtered dust box, but works brilliantly when combined with a dust extractor. You can add an AWS chip which works via Bluetooth to communicate between the sander and a compatible vac. With AWS set up, you simply start the sander and the vacuum starts up within a second or so; once you turn the sander off, the extractor stops after waiting 3-4 seconds - ideal to clear the hose of remaining debris. The sander is best used with net sanding pads as it allows the dust extraction to work best. This is the bare unit version of the sander, meaning it does not come with a case, battery or charger, making it perfect if you already have batteries for your other 40Vmax XGT machinery.
