The most common type of light bulb fitting in the UK and Ireland, the full size bayonet mount B22d has two contacts inside the fitting, and is reversible meaning that polarity is not an issue. Bayonet caps are popular because they provide an easy to use contact that gives a positive connection without relying on how tightly a screw is turned as is the case with Edison screw.
