Product description
Makita 18V LXT Framing Nailer | 50-90mm | 30-34° | DBN900 Body Only
The much-anticipated framing nailer from Makita operates on their long-running 18 volt LXT platform. The magazine accepts up to 58 30-34° collated clipped head nails. The DBN900 can fire nails between 50mm and 90mm in length, and on a single 6.0Ah battery pack can drive up to 1,000 nails per charge. There is a control panel that allows you to switch the tool on, and then select between single and sequential fire modes. Single fire mode requires a pull of the trigger for every nail fired, whereas the sequential mode switches the triggering to the nose switch where it will fire a nail with each press of the nose as long as the trigger is pressed.
It is common knowledge that most jams happen with the last nail. The DBN900 stops firing before the last few nails run out, allowing you to load another strip to keep going as seamlessly as possible, and also prevent dry-firing. There are aggressive teeth at the nose of the nailer for excellent grip, but this can be covered with the included tip cover that is ideal when working with finished timber. There is a powerful work light that helps in low light work conditions or when the tool itself is causing a shadow.
The timeout between pressing the tip against the workpiece and pressing the trigger (or in sequential mode; between pressing the trigger and pressing the tip) is 5 seconds, which is a couple of seconds longer most equivalent machines. Depth adjustment is done tool-free; using a dial on the front of the machine. Between usages, you can hang the tool on the belt hook; or when working at height the fold-out rafter hook.
