  Requiring only a single 40Vmax XGT battery pack, this chainsaw is completely cordless like a petrol machine, but with several times less noise. Petrol machines can be disruptive and even distressing depending on the audience, which is one of the reasons the Fire Service have switched to cordless for vehicle extrication.
  
  The chainsaw has an incredible 25.5 metres per second no load speed allowing it to make quick work of wood up to its maximum dimension. For user safety there are five stages to starting the tool for the first time each session, and three for each restart. There is a chain brake, set by the angle of the front guard, then a on/off power button, a two-stage upper safety trigger built into the handle, and then finally the main finger trigger.
  
  The chain brake has two modes of triggering. The first is the most common method where your hand or wrist comes in to contact with the guard. The second is an inertia function where the actual motion of the kickback causes the brake to engage by throwing the guard into the braked position.
