  Power Master 30mA Residual Current Device | 13A

  
  This plug-through device protects you from earth faults. These occur when electricity does not return through the neutral, for example if a live wire of a lawnmower touches the metal blade if it was run over its own cord, or if the user touched an exposed live. In these cases the electricity returns via the earth and reduces the amount returning via neutral. This RCD plug detects this imbalance (as little as 30mA) and within 30ms will disconnect the circuit.
  
  This is an active type (or non-latching) RCD, ideal for power tools and garden machinery. It needs reset each time power is interrupted (either from being unplugged or from power loss. This means that it should not be used for devices that you wish to automatically turn back on once a power cut is restored, like a fridge. But this is much safer for machines like saws where you don't want it to start up again if unattended.
