    Makita Cooler & Warmer Box | 12V Automotive / 230V Mains / 18V Cordless

This is perfect for the tradesman who wants to keep drinks cool or food warm in their van. Alternatively it would be ideal for the LXT battery owner to go camping, where it can be powered from the car 12V socket on the way, then kept running from 18V LXT batteries after the car is switched off. To use, simply power it on, and then select between heating and cooling. When in cooling mode you can select between -18°C (standard freezer temperature), -10°C, 0°C, 5°C (standard fridge temperature) and 10°C. Switch it to heating mode and you can select between 55°C and 60°C.

The battery compartment will fit two batteries at once, but the machine only needs one to operate. Inside the battery compartment is a USB port which can be used to charge phones and other devices at 5V. The display can be switched to show degrees Fahrenheit if you prefer that over Celsius, and also has two indicators to show the level of each of the two batteries without having to lift them out. When not changing the temperature, the display shows the actual internal temperature. There is a bottle opener on the outside of the cooler for convenience, and a foldaway carry handle to use with the built-in wheels. You can also attach a shoulder strap if you need to carry it over rough ground.

The heater/cooler box can be operated from the cigarette lighter/accessory socket of your car or truck, and is compatible with both 12V and 24V vehicles. When the vehicle battery voltage gets lower than 10.7V and 22.6V respectively, the DCW180 shuts down automatically to protect the vehicle. When mains electricity is available, you can power this from the wall with the included UK/IE mains power cord. As for cordless runtime, the numbers provided by Makita show worst-case scenarios with cooling done at an ambient temperature of 30°C and heating done at 0°C. Running from a pair of 6.0Ah battery packs, it will cool to negative-18°C for 5 hours before needing the batteries changed, though you can expect that time to increase when used in normal British and Irish temperatures! With the same battery loadout, you can run for 4 hours at the full 60°C temperature, and that's with the ambient temperature at freezing. The real impressive (and probably most likely to be used) feature with this machine is that you can run it at fridge temperatures (5°C) for 17 hours on a single set of two 6.0Ah batteries.
