Makita are able to supply this at a lower cost to the DUR190 thanks to it being supplied with a one-time split shaft. This means that it takes up much less space for transportation and allows Makita to pass on a lower price to the consumer. This strimmer is supplied with a single 18V Lithium-ion battery pack that has a capacity of 5.0 Amp-hours allowing for an excellent runtime when combined with the machine's brushless DC motor. When the motor starts up, it gradually but quickly runs up to full speed, for a soft start and less of an unpleasant 'jolt'. When the trigger is released, the machine uses the motor to slow the cutting head to a stop as fast as possible for safer operation.
