The 103520 roughing gouge is 1 inch, allowing you to quickly get closer to the finished spindle from your blanks. After roughing, you can use the 103550 3/8" spindle gouge for the finer detail work. Finally there is the 103610 1/8" parting tool which is generally used for removing your finished piece from the rest of the wood, but with practice can also be used to make certain designs.
