While this tool is available with two 5.0 Amp-hour batteries, we prefer this version with the 2.0 Amp-hour batteries, as they maintain the ultra-compact form-factor of the DCH172 as well as weighing less. The DCH172 takes up a tiny amount of space compared to its capabilities. It can deliver 1.4 Joules of impact energy to aid in drilling holes in masonry, concrete and brick materials between 4mm diameter and 16mm. It weighs in at only 1.8kg allowing you to use it for long periods of time with minimal fatigue. As is the standard with most rotary hammer drills, the 172 has an SDS-Plus bit holder, allowing you to swap drill bits in mere seconds. The drill can operate in rotary-only mode or rotary-hammer mode. Rotary only mode is ideal for when you want to drill into materials like steel or wood. With the appropriate drill bits installed, you can drill 16mm diameter holes in concrete, 10mm diameter holes in metal and up to 16mm in wood.
