How do the Bosch Wireless Induction Charging Batteries Work?

Posted: 05 November 2014
You might have heard by now about the Bosch Induction Charging batteries and charger but how does it work?

The charging works by creating a magnetic field that is generated within the charging base using a coil. The battery is also fitted with a coil that when placed within the magnetic field, starts to induces a voltage allowing the battery to charge.

Bosch are the world's first tool company to use the advantages of wireless induction charging in their new range of cordless power tools. Bosch believe that this new technology is more effective in both time and money, but why?

Induction Charging Main Features:

1. No waiting for your batteries to charge! With the new charging system you are able to put the tool back on the charging plate after use, thanks to Care Charging. Care Charging reducing the strain on the battery between short charges.

2. CoolPack batteries have been designed with a special housing material that prevents the batteries from overheating giving up to a 100% longer lifetime.

3. The induction charging batteries are completely backwards compatible with all Bosch 18v cordless tools.

What's Included with the Induction Charging?

The induction charging kit includes three main pieces. The first piece is the induction charging base that the tool and battery is set on. The base is plugged in to provide power. The unit has no contact points therefore protecting it against water and dust.

The next is the mounting frame that goes around the battery and base for an easy, stable mounting. The battery slides into mounting frame ensuring that it's in contact with the charging plate as well as prevent the tool from falling off the charger.
