  DeWalt  1.7Ah Compact PowerStack Battery Pack | DCBP034 | 18V XR Li-ion

  
  The first generation of the new pouch-based Lithium-ion battery pack, the DCBP034, delivers excellent improvements over the closest sized ordinary XR battery, the DCB183 2.0 Amp-hour. The DCBP034 has a 25 percent smaller footprint and weighs 15 percent less than the 2.0Ah, even with the added rubber overmoulding. Even with these improvements, it is capable of delivering 50 percent more power than the 183 battery.
  
  It can do this thanks to the move from cylindrical battery cells (such as the 21700 or the popular 18650) to pouch cells, much like those used in laptops, phones, drones and other high-draw electronics. These are far more space efficient than cylinder batteries as there isn't any dead-space between them. They can also be electrically connected to provide the greater power required from many of the latest power tools in the 18V XR range.
  
  The PowerStack batteries are still fully compatible with all 18 Volt XR powertools and chargers, making these batteries the ideal upgrade path for those who are already invested in the 18V XR platform. Batteries are normally only covered by a 1 year warranty, but the DCBP034 is the first battery that DeWalt have made possible to register for their extended 3 year warranty.
