It's easy to see why this is DEWALT's best selling twinpack. It has their two best power tools, enough capacity and a tough case to hold everything. This is the perfect twinpack for tradesmen at all levels, being good value for new apprentices, yet tough enough for seasoned professionals. They're also the perfect combination to be used together, especially when drilling pilot holes in wood then sinking a screw, without the need to change bits.
The DCD796 Combination Hammer Drill features a 13mm capacity keyless chuck that allows you to effortlessly change between drill bits without the need to keep track of a chuck key. The drill is extremely capable considering its compact size and lightweight construction. It has a two speed gearbox and includes a torque adjustment ring with 14 settings plus drill mode that locks out the clutch. The torque ring also allows you to put it into hammer mode which lets you do light masonry drilling up to 13mm diameter. The light on the drill allows you to see your work area and turns on each time the drill is used, with an additional option that allows the light to stay on and be used as a torch.
The DCF887 Impact Driver features fantastic control thanks to the three-speed control switch plus variable speed trigger. This allows you to precisely control the speed you drive a bolt or screw. The work light on the DCF887 differs to the DCD796 in that it is a ring of three LEDs around the quick release chuck which gives a more direct illumination of the work area. Again, the DCF887 is another extremely compact and lightweight tool that punches above its weight in performance. It has a maximum torque rating of 205 Newton-metres and can be used with bolts up to M12 in size with no problem.
This kit is supplied with two of the newer generation XR series Lithium-ion battery packs. These each have a capacity of 5.0 Amp-hours and charge in less than an hour with the included charger.
