Baxi Burnall Underfloor Draught Fire Parts and Accessories

What is a Baxi Burnall?

The Baxi Burnall is the most common underfloor draught fire system, having been used since the 1920s. The Baxi Burnall is the only underfloor draught system still in full production. But how does the Baxi Burnall system work and why is it still as popular as it was in the 1960s?

How the Baxi Burnall Works:

The Baxi Burnall system draws the air needed for combustion from under the floor or outside the room. The air being drawn to the fire is controlled by an air control lever on the front of the grate that can be opened or closed. By opening or closing the valve you can effectively turn the fire up or down as required.

Due to the control of the fire you are able to turn the fire down and leave the house for a few hours then come home to the fire still lit. This also means you can burn the fire all night and just turn it up once you wake up in the morning.

There are two different types Ashbox systems for the Baxi Burnall: The Lift Out Ashbox and Outside Ashbox. The lift out ash system uses a deep set ashpan that is accessed from inside the house once the fire has been extinguished. This deep ashpan will only need to be changed every 2 to 3 days making cleaning the fire easier.

The outside ash system can be installed if your chimney is on an external wall. The ashpan is removed from the outside of the house through an external door, making no mess in the house. The ashpan can be emptied while the fire is still lit allowing for continuous burning.

Our Baxi Burnall Range of Accessories:

2 Piece Fire Grate: The Baxi Burnall fire grate has been manufactured from quality cast iron. This Burnall fire grate is ideal for burning coal, logs and other solid fuels. The grate features slightly raised sides to hold the fuel better during use.

Lift Out Ashpan: The Baxi Burnall lift out ashpan has been designed to sit within the fire collecting ash. The ashpans large design mean you will only have to empty it every 2 - 3 days.

Outdoor Ashpan: This Baxi ashpan has been designed for Baxi fires that have been fitted with an outside ashpan. This ashpan is emptied from outside the house so no ash or dust can be split when emptying.

Deepening Bar: The Baxi Burnall deepening bar has been designed to be fitted at the front of your fire so that extra fuel can be added without it falling out and causing damage or destroying the front strip.
